" all seek peace and harmony , because we lack them. Occasionally we all experience agitation, irritation, disharmony, suffering, and when we suffer the turmoil, do not keep this misery limited in us, but continually distributed to others. A miserable person fills the surrounding environment of turmoil, and those around it are also altered, irritated. Certainly, this is not the proper way to live " .
So begins the text "The Art of Living (click to download MS-Word document full text) of Dhamma Neru Vipassana center, clearly explaining what is Vipassana meditation. I will be participating personally from May 2 to May 13 in a retreat at the Vipassana center which is about 40 minutes from Barcelona (Spain). It is for me the first time I Vipassana meditation. For 10 days I Vipassana meditation is to live in complete peace and delve into your own being through constant meditation. There are three steps in the course or retreat:
- refrain from any physical or verbal act to disturb peace and harmony
- control our wild mind trained to focus on a single object: the breath
- purify the mind of pollution, developing the insight of our own nature
What is NOT Vipassana:
- is not a rite or ritual based on blind faith.
- not intellectual or philosophical entertainment.
- is not a rest cure, a holiday or a social club.
- is not an escape from the trials and tribulations of everyday life.
- is a technique to eradicate suffering.
- is a method of mental purification which allows one to face the tensions and problems of life in a calm and balanced.
- is a lifestyle that can be used to contribute positively to society.
The courses lives in a maximum simplicity in nature apart from any contact with the outside world. It serves simple vegetarian food. The courses are free. At the end of the course you can leave a voluntary partnership to finance and then others can enjoy the same experience.
